Thom Smith is Curator of Natural Science at The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and has been employed there for over forty years as educator and naturalist.

Smith was instrumental in founding the museum's aquarium and has always been interested in the sea. His interest goes beyond the natural history aspect of that place between land and sea, to include history and architecture.
